THE REVIVAL OF RIVERTOWN.

Located on the banks of the Mississippi River and in the heart of the city of Kenner youcan find Rivertown.

A historic place with a variety of cultural and family attractions. You can find restaurants, museums, government offices,theaters, churches, among many other historical buildings.

It offers tourists and localssixteen blocks of pure entertainment. Every Saturday a Farmer’s Market sets up allowing people to shop fresh, local products.

During the month of October, a well-known festival known as Oktoberfest goes on. In the month of April the Italian community that resides in Louisiana gathers together to celebreate it’s heritage with the Italian Fest.

Both festivals offer music,drinks, and food giving people the perfect excuse to get a break.

It was right in Rivertown where Ricardo and Lilian Molina started their own business called “Fleur de Lily Bakery.” Both, Honduran descent and immigrants came together to create a Latin American restaurant very unique anddifferent, something that has neverbefore been seen in the area.

It is not only a restaurant, but also a café and bar. It has three social areas, one outdoor and two indoor giving clients the choice to enjoy an afternoon hanging around with friends or dance the night away with live music.

The menu is extensive and varied. In it you will find from an exquisite flan to a delicious baleada forbreakfast.

“We want people to come and finda little bit of everything,” said Lilian.

There is traditional Honduran breakfast and for southern lovers there is traditional Louisiana food such as the po-boys.

Every Sunday they serve brunch just in case you crave a plate of

grits with some melted cheese on it accompanied by a refreshing mimosa.

Before opening the doors to the public “Fleur de Lily Bakery” has caught many people’s attention due to its location. Keeping in mind that Rivertown has yet to be discovered by many around the area.

“At the beginning it was a bit scary, but we knew we had to risk it because if we didn’t , then we were going to regret it forever,” said Lilian.

People like Rocardo and Lilian are example of perseverance of many Hispanic immigrants that come to this country with a desire to succeed.

With their experience and tenacity that this marriage has obtained throughout their lives they are more than sure this business will become a great success.

EL RENACIMIENTO DE RIVERTOWN

Ubicado a la orilla del rio Mississippi y en el corazon de la ciudad de Kenner se encuentra Rivertown.

Un lugar historico y con una variedad de atracciones culturales y familiares. Hay restaurantes,museos, oficinas gubernamentales, teatros, iglesias entre otros edificioshistoricos.

Ofrece a turistas y locales dieciseis cuadras de todo tipo de entretenimiento.

Cada Sabado instalan el Mercado del Agricultor permitiendole a la gente hacer sus compras de productos frescos y locales. Durante el mes de Octubre

se celebra el reconocido festival Aleman conocido como Oktoberfest y en el mes de Abril la comunidad Italiana que reside en Louisina vuelve a sus raices celebrando al ritmo de un festival italiano.

Ambos festivales ofrecen musica, bebida y gastronomia , dandole a la gente la excusa perfecta para dares una escapadita.

Fue justo en Rivertown donde Ricardo y Lilian Molina arrancaron con su propio negocio “Fleur de Lily Bakery”. Ambos, de descendencia hondurena e inmigrantes juntaron fuerzas para fundar un restaurante latino-americano, algo unico y diferente nunca antes visto en el area.

Este no solo es un restaurente, sino tambien un café y un bar. Cuenta con tres areas sociales, una al aire libre y dos adentro para disfrutar de una tarde entre amigos o para bailar toda la noche al ritmo de musica en vivo.

El menu es extenso y variado. Ahi encontraras desde un exquisitoflan hasta una delciosa baleadapara el desayuno.

“Queremos que cuando la gente venga, encuentre un poco de todo,” dice Lilian.

Hay desayunos tipicos hondurenos, y para los amantes de la comida tipica de Luisiana tambien hay po- boys.

Cada Domingo sirven brunch por si

acaso se te antoja un plato de grits con queso derretido acompañado de una refrescante mimosa.

Desde antes de abrir sus puertas al publico, “Fleur de Lily” ha llamado mucho la atencion entre la comunidad debido a su ubicacion y es que Rivertwon todavia no ha sido descubierto por muchos.

“Al principio si nos daba un poco de miedo, pero sabiamos que teniamos que arriesgranos, porque si no lo haciamos, entonces nos ibamos a quedar con las ganas,” agrego Lilian.

Personas como Lilian y Ricardo, son ejemplo del teson y la perseverancia de muchos inmigrates latinos que llegan a este pais con ganas de salir adelante.

Con la experiencia y la tenasidad que han obtenido a lo largo de sus vidas estan seguros este sera un gran exito.
